The story of how the church came to be . . .

The beginning . . .

After many years of having a fulfilling ministry as an assistant pastor, Johnny began to sense that God might be calling him and his family to pastor a church. Though it was not entirely surprising, it was not something to rush into either. They had been happy in the churches they had served in and had many wonderful relationships there. Besides, the Austin area had been home to them since the early 90s, as well as the home of several of their family members. There was no need to change any of that! They were . . . comfortable.

But God has a way of getting us out of our comfort zones if it’s time to do something new. Through a very difficult and challenging season of life, God began to slowly reveal that it was indeed time to seek to pastor a church. After a long season of prayer with his family, they finally felt a clear go-ahead to embrace this calling, step out by faith, and start a new church to serve the Austin area. After further prayer, Round Rock, the largest suburb of Austin with no UPCI church, felt like just the right place.

Johnny and his family began meeting in his parents’ home with a few families in February 2021—yes, right in the middle of the pandemic! They poured their hearts into this small gathering, praying, planning, and raising funds to be able to lease and remodel a dedicated space in Round Rock. Now, with a space to call their own, they’re ready and excited to embrace all that lies ahead in serving the Round Rock community and beyond.
